Norway's auto market: Toyota tops July car sales as electric bus registrations rise

In July, Norway registered 9,609 new passenger cars, virtually unchanged from the previous year, with 97.6% of them being electric. Toyota surged from tenth to first place with 1,260 registrations, while Xpeng climbed to third with 843 registrations. Tesla remained the overall leader for the year, but the rapid shift highlights how new models and deliveries can quickly alter brand rankings.

For the first half of the year, Norway ranked third in Europe for electric bus registrations, logging 681 electric buses. This represents a 63% share of the domestic bus market, slightly down from 66% a year earlier, and places Norway ahead of Germany and the Netherlands when adjusted for population. Italy led Europe with 1,667 electric buses, followed by Poland with 713.
