Norway's E18 Highway Faces Major Traffic Disruptions
Long queues are expected on the E18 corridor near Oslo from Friday evening, 31 July, through Sunday, 3 August 2026, as bridge components are lifted into place at Fornebukrysset. The work narrows the road to a single lane in the direction of Oslo, prompting the Norwegian Public Roads Administration to advise drivers to consider alternative routes such as county road 4 via Nittedal, the E134 Oslofjord connection, or county road 19.
Earlier in the week, a full stoppage occurred on the south‑bound E18 at Telemarksporten in Porsgrunn when a vehicle stopped due to a medical emergency. Police and ambulance personnel cleared the incident, and the road was reopened for normal traffic. No injuries were reported from the traffic incident itself.
