Norway's football team ships own food to World Cup in US

Norway's national football team traveling to the World Cup in the United States took an unusual step by shipping more than a thousand kilograms of Norwegian food to Greensboro, NC, including roughly 300 kg of fish, 116 kg of brown cheese and about 6,000 oranges. The decision, explained by team chef Aron Espeland, was intended to keep players' diet strictly controlled and avoid digestive, sleep or concentration problems that foreign food might cause.

By managing their own kitchen staff, Norway aimed to minimise variables affecting performance. The approach sparked discussion about distrust of American fast food, but the team’s cautious preparation coincided with a 4‑1 opening‑match victory over Iraq.
