Norway's King Haakon VIII identifies Russia as security threat
In his first throne speech, the new King of Norway, Haakon VIII, addressed significant security challenges facing Europe. He identified Russia as the greatest threat to peace on the continent and noted that Europe is facing its most serious security situation since World War II, specifically citing the ongoing war in Ukraine.
To address these threats, the King announced plans to expand Norway's military capabilities and reaffirmed the nation's commitment to supporting Ukraine. He also highlighted Poland as one of Norway's most important allies, alongside nations such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Canada.
Regarding domestic issues, King Haakon VIII discussed immigration, stating that individuals arriving in Norway will face clearer requirements to learn the Norwegian language, participate in social life, and enter the workforce.
