Norway's Power Grid and Farmers Drive New Preparedness Push
New regulations tighten Norway's power‑grid preparedness requirements, raising ambition levels for the sector and urging the seven electricity network companies to move from compliance to real robustness. The operators are urged to upgrade aging infrastructure, build critical competence centres and secure material reserves so the grid can withstand sabotage, cyber‑attacks, extreme weather and geopolitical tensions.
At the same time, Norwegian farmers are highlighted as a form of universal preparedness. Their tractors, ploughs, chains, generators and wood supplies are routinely used to keep roads clear in winter, fight forest fires, provide emergency power and serve as local gathering points when public services are disrupted. The farming community’s equipment and expertise are seen as essential assets for community resilience alongside formal emergency services.
