Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund expands AST SpaceMobile stake

Norges Bank Investment Management, the manager of Norway’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, has disclosed an expanded equity position in AST SpaceMobile, Inc. During the second quarter of 2026, the fund acquired an additional 604,458 shares, bringing its total stake in the direct-to-device satellite communications operator to a valuation of €256 million.

The disclosure also revealed a $1.22 billion equity position in SpaceX, representing a 0.05 percent stake in the private company. These moves are part of a broader diversification strategy for the fund, which manages over $1.7 trillion in assets and maintains significant holdings in major technology firms such as Nvidia and Apple.

AST SpaceMobile is currently transitioning toward commercial service delivery with its Block 2 BlueBird spacecraft stack, which is designed to provide high-speed data directly to unmodified smartphones via low Earth orbit satellites.
