Norwegian supporters have turned the 2026 World Cup into a viral cultural moment with the synchronized "Viking Row" celebration. After Norway’s 3‑2 win over Senegal – its first knockout‑stage appearance since 1998 – fans mimicked Viking ship rowing in stadiums, on escalators, subways, Times Square and even inside the Norwegian parliament.

The ritual, credited to fan Ole Frøystad in 2025, features participants chanting “ro!” while moving in unison. Captain Martin Ødegaard and top scorer Erling Haaland joined the row on the field, with Ødegaard beating a drum to set the rhythm.
