Norway's World Cup surge lifts nightlife and welcomes keeper Nyland home

Norway's strong showing at the football World Cup sparked a wave of enthusiasm that filled pubs and bars across Oslo and other cities. Noho Norway reported an 80 % increase in turnover at venues broadcasting the matches and a 15 % overall growth, while Aass brewery said sales rose about 40 % compared with the previous year during the four intense weeks of the tournament. Representatives from other breweries also noted higher demand.

Goalkeeper Ørjan Håskjold Nyland was greeted with massive local celebrations after the tournament. Hundreds gathered at Volda‑Ørsta airport with flags, banners and a "Velkomen heim Nyland" placard, and a bus parade in Oslo attracted roughly 150 000 spectators. Local officials praised his performance and the community spirit his return inspired.
