Norwegian biathlon team holds training camp in Otepää

The Norwegian men's biathlon national team, including both A and B squads, has arrived in Otepää, Estonia, for a training camp. The athletes are preparing for the 2027 Biathlon World Championships, which will be hosted at the Otepää venue. The group consists of 12 athletes, including notable stars such as Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen, Johannes Dale-Skjevdal, Johan-Olav Botn, Martin Uldal, and Isak Frey. Einar Hedegart, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, is also part of the B-squad.

Head coach Patrick Oberegger expressed positive feedback regarding the training conditions and the facility. While many athletes have competed in Otepää during the winter, this marks the first summer training session for several top performers, who are focusing on familiarizing themselves with the specific characteristics of the Otepää shooting range. Athlete Sturla Holm Lägreid did not travel to the camp due to illness.

The camp will conclude with the Norwegian team participating in the Estonian championships. They are scheduled to compete in a sprint race on September 5. This collaboration marks an expansion of previous cooperation between the Norwegian and Estonian biathlon federations, which had previously focused on youth development camps in Otepää and Lillehammer.
