Norwegian courts handle extradition drug case and release of murder suspect
A man from Moss was extradited from France to Norway after French authorities seized a sailboat carrying 2.1 tonnes of cannabis valued at about €17 million. He is charged with large‑scale drug trafficking and involvement in a kidnapping, and will face trial later this year.
In a separate case, a man in his 40s who admitted to a knife killing was released from custody after the Norwegian Supreme Court dismissed the prosecution’s appeal. Defence lawyer Bernt Heiberg said the decision “støter de etterlattes rettsfølelse” (offends the bereaved family’s sense of justice) and called for police protection for the victim’s relatives.
