Norwegian Crown Princess's Children Attend US World Cup Match After Mother's Lung Transplant

Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 22, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 20, the children of Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette‑Marit, appeared publicly in the United States following their mother’s successful double‑lung transplant. They watched Norway’s 3‑2 victory over Senegal at the World Cup match in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and the next day visited the historic Gjøa Youth Soccer club in Brooklyn, the oldest soccer club in the United States founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1911. The siblings wore football kits, took part in a training session on the club’s Parade Ground and met local youth players, marking their first joint official engagement abroad. Their visit was arranged because King Harald V and Queen Sonja were considered too old for the trip, and Crown Prince Haakon remained in Oslo to manage numerous duties while supporting his wife’s recovery.
