Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings signs shore power deal with Malta
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has signed a shore power purchase agreement with Transport Malta to reduce vessel emissions while berthed. Through the ‘Shore to Ship’ project, cruise ships will be able to connect to Malta’s electricity grid to power onboard services, such as lighting and air conditioning, instead of running their engines.
This marks the fourth shore power agreement signed by Transport Malta. The initiative is part of the country’s broader strategy to reduce maritime emissions and modernize port infrastructure to support sustainable mobility and improve air quality for local communities.
