Norwegian Getaway passenger death and SWISS airport lounge expansion
A passenger died after falling from a balcony on the Norwegian Getaway cruise ship on the night of Sunday, August 23. The vessel was returning to Miami following a three-night trip to the Bahamas. Norwegian Cruise Line confirmed that a guest fell onto a lower deck and, despite immediate crew intervention, the individual did not survive.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an open death investigation. While social media reports have suggested potential intoxication or an altercation, these claims remain unconfirmed by investigators or the cruise line.
In separate aviation news, SWISS has announced plans to open new, larger Business and Senator Lounges at Zurich Airport in the first quarter of 2027. As part of a long-term terminal redevelopment, the new facilities will be located in a building adjacent to Dock B, providing approximately 28,000 square feet of space.
The expanded lounges will offer increased seating, soundproof workstations, and views of the Swiss Alps and airport runways. The move is part of a broader modernization project at Zurich Airport that will eventually lead to the closure of existing lounges in Dock A.
