Norwegian Lab accused of tricking Swedish consumers into expensive subscriptions
Swedish consumers are reporting widespread issues with Norwegian Lab, a company accused of tricking customers into expensive subscriptions. The scheme typically begins with social media advertisements for trial packages of dietary supplements, such as products for urinary incontinence, priced at 99 SEK.
Many customers claim they were unaware that the initial purchase committed them to a recurring subscription. Following the trial, victims have reported receiving unsolicited shipments accompanied by invoices totaling approximately 2,000 SEK. One 79-year-old victim reported that the unexpected bill left her with only 1,100 SEK for her monthly living expenses.
Regulatory bodies have seen a surge in reports. The Swedish Consumer Agency (Konsumentverket) has received over 600 complaints against the company in recent years, with a significant spike in recent weeks. Additionally, the Norwegian Consumer Council (Forbrukerrådet) has over 800 ongoing cases, and numerous reports have been filed with the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
