NCC fined 5 million euros after Northvolt plant accident

A Swedish construction firm, NCC, has been ordered to pay a corporate fine of five million euros following a fatal workplace accident at the Northvolt battery factory in Skellefteå. The incident occurred in December 2023 when a mobile crane collapsed onto two workers; a man in his 60s died from his injuries and a man in his 20s lost an arm. The fine was imposed after prosecutors said the safety risks had not been examined sufficiently. The case was reported by SVT Västerbotten.
