Norwegian man found dead in Riga canal

A 22-year-old Norwegian man has been found dead in a canal in Riga, Latvia. The body was discovered on Wednesday by the volunteer organization Bezvests.lv in a canal flowing into the Daugava river, near the Riga Central Market.

The location of the discovery is approximately 100 meters from where the man was last seen on surveillance footage. Earlier reports indicated he was last observed walking alone toward the Daugava river after spending time in the city's Old Town.

Latvian police have confirmed the discovery and stated that they do not suspect any criminal activity. While a criminal case has been opened, this is a standard procedure in such instances. A forensic examination has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities believe the incident may have been an accident, such as a fall into the water.
