Norwegian police carry out multiple traffic checks, arrests and fire responses
Police in Norway conducted several laser speed checks, issuing fines and confiscating a driver's licence after a driver was caught at 88 km/h in a 50 km/h zone in Breivika and another for driving 129 km/h in an 80‑zone on European route 36 in Midt‑Telemark.
Separate incidents involved emergency responses: a semi‑trailer caught fire on the E18 near Farsjø, prompting a temporary road closure, and a blaze in an industrial building in Tinn that was brought under control without injuries.
Security actions included a threatened hotel staff member in Skien who was arrested, and an armed police operation near Neslandsvatn that uncovered illegal firearms.
Additional policing incidents reported from Tromsø included an intoxicated rider on an electric scooter, a theft by a minor from a Vinmonopolet store, and disturbances at a local venue. The Porsgrunn municipality website also experienced a temporary outage, with officials warning of possible cyber attacks.
