Norwegian Royal House details planning for King Harald V funeral

The Norwegian Royal House has confirmed that the royal family was actively involved in planning the funeral of King Harald V, who passed away at age 89 on August 28. While the national period of mourning has concluded, the royal family has entered a period of court mourning lasting until mid-October, during which they will refrain from official duties, except for constitutional obligations such as Friday Council meetings with King Haakon VIII and the official opening of Parliament.

During the funeral proceedings in Oslo, Danish King Frederik X drew attention for not wearing the Norwegian Order of St. Olav, a distinction held by many other attending monarchs. Experts clarified that this was not a sign of disrespect but a result of strict dress codes; because King Frederik attended in his naval uniform, regulations dictate that he should not wear an order sash.
