Norwegian Royal silver wedding celebration postponed due to health issues

The official celebration of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s silver wedding anniversary has been postponed due to health concerns within the Norwegian Royal Family.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit is currently in recovery following a lung transplant performed this summer. Consequently, the couple will mark their 25th anniversary with a private family gathering, with a larger celebration to be held at a later date when the Princess's health permits.

Additionally, King Harald V has been hospitalized at Rikshospitalet to receive antibiotics for a bacterial infection in his blood. While his condition is reported as stable, he has been placed on medical leave for two weeks. During this period, Crown Prince Haakon is serving as regent.

Despite the postponement of the formal festivities, a public drill performance by the King's Guard will take place at Slottsplassen at 13:00 on Tuesday, providing an opportunity for the public to greet the royals.
