Norwegian Summer Travel Surge Amid Rising Bedbug Concerns

A recent public‑health report found that over 2,500 Norwegians reported bedbug infestations after returning from holidays last year, prompting experts to warn of costly eradication measures and advise travelers to inspect hotel rooms and luggage.

At the same time, a Norstat survey commissioned by Frende Forsikning revealed that 47 % of Norwegians plan to spend their summer holidays within Norway, while 34 % intend to travel abroad. Economic pressures, higher overseas travel costs and increasingly extreme heat in other European destinations are driving the preference for domestic trips, according to Frende’s travel damage manager Kathrine Kleppestø.
