Norwegian to lay off 125 employees at Copenhagen base

Norwegian is preparing to lay off 125 employees at its Copenhagen base. The workforce reduction includes 55 pilots and 70 cabin crew members.

The airline plans to reduce its fleet based in Copenhagen from 16 aircraft during the summer half-year to 14. Norwegian stated that the change is due to significant differences in traffic volumes between the summer and winter seasons; while 16 aircraft are required during the summer peak, only 10 are needed in the winter.

To maintain summer flight frequencies from Copenhagen, some routes will instead be operated by aircraft based in Spain. Negotiations to mitigate the number of layoffs are ongoing, and the company expressed hope to limit or avoid job losses through 'alternative solutions'.
