Norwegian TV personality sentenced to prison for domestic abuse

A Norwegian television personality has been sentenced to one year and two months in prison following a trial at Øvre Telemark District Court. While the defendant was acquitted of several counts of rape, he was convicted of domestic abuse against his former wife. The court found that he engaged in psychological abuse through threats, coercion, and controlling behavior, including monitoring her clothing and social interactions.

In addition to the prison sentence, the man was ordered to pay 150,000 NOK in compensation to his ex-wife and received a five-year restraining order. The defendant has maintained his innocence regarding the charges and his legal counsel is currently reviewing the verdict for a potential appeal.
