Norwegian Viking Row drum sells for 1.3 million kroner at charity auction
The drum used to lead the ‘Viking Row’ ritual by Norwegian football supporters during this year’s World Cup has been sold at auction for 1.3 million Norwegian kroner, approximately 124,000 euros.
The instrument became a symbol of the national team’s supporters, used by prominent figures including Erling Haaland and King Haakon. The auction was organized by the public broadcaster Nrk as part of its annual fundraising campaign.
Knut Ugland, a shipping company owner, won the auction. The proceeds from the sale will be donated to a Norwegian organization dedicated to providing assistance to refugees globally.
