Nostalgic ice cream flavors see interest amid ‘newstalgia’ food trend

The ‘newstalgia’ food trend is gaining attention as consumers look toward classic comfort foods. Restaurateur Stratis Morfogen has highlighted how traditional diner dishes and flavors are being reinvented for modern tastes.

Several ice cream flavors that were popular in the 1970s have become increasingly difficult to find in modern grocery stores. These include Butter Brickle, which features butterscotch flavor and crunchy toffee pieces, and rum raisin, a combination of vanilla ice cream and rum-soaked raisins that gained widespread popularity in the 1970s. Other nostalgic flavors mentioned include maple walnut.
