Woodbine Mile Grade 1 horse racing Notable Speech Godolphin Breeders' Cup qualifier

Notable Speech, the Godolphin-owned champion turf male, won the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile for the second consecutive year on Saturday at Woodbine. Ridden by William Buick and trained by Charles Appleby, the five-year-old son of Dubawi overcame a lack of running room to secure the victory by 1 1/4 lengths.

Deterministic, who entered the race on a six-race winning streak, served as the pacesetter and finished second. Gas Me Up took third place, followed by Itsastormymonday in fourth. The winning time for the one-mile turf race was 1:33.86 on a firm course.

As a Breeders' Cup 'Win and You're In' qualifier, the victory positions Notable Speech as a strong contender for the upcoming FanDuel Breeders' Cup Mile at Keeneland.
