Nothing Announces 40% Staff Cuts While Denying Market Withdrawals

Nothing, the British smartphone maker, confirmed that it is cutting roughly 40% of its workforce, affecting about 100 of its 800 employees worldwide. The reductions focus on development teams, with the China unit losing up to half of its staff and the London team facing 30‑40% cuts. The company also said it is reorganising into a new "KI‑native" business unit to drive its next growth phase.

Co‑founder Akis Evangelidis dismissed rumours that Nothing would exit twelve markets, calling the reports "fake news" and insisting the company is not closing any markets. The denied markets included Japan, parts of the Middle East and Europe. Despite the denial, the firm’s sales have fallen sharply, with the Phone 4a/4a Pro selling about 150,000 units last year and the newly launched Phone 4b reportedly selling just 29,537 units on its first day.
