Nothing Unveils AI-First Smartwatch as Friend Launches Voice-Enabled AI Pendant

Consumer tech brand Nothing is shifting to an artificial‑intelligence‑first strategy with a new line of wearables and audio products. According to a Gizmochina report, the company plans a September rollout that will include a transparent‑design smartwatch, over‑ear headphones, ear‑clip buds and CMF speakers, while still offering its smartphones. Co‑founder Carl Pei is backing the move as the firm seeks growth beyond the tightening margins of the smartphone market.

AI‑hardware startup Friend has relaunched its pendant as Friend 2.0, adding a built‑in speaker that lets the device speak aloud. Priced at $249, the voice‑enabled pendant now requires a $10 monthly subscription to retain conversation memory beyond 30 days. Founder Avi Schiffmann describes the device as a personal confidant rather than a conventional assistant, positioning it as a screen‑free companion that can converse publicly.
