Nothing unveils Nothing OS 5.0 based on Android 17

British technology company Nothing has officially unveiled Nothing OS 5.0, its latest mobile customization layer based on Android 17. The update introduces over 80 new features focused on design, performance, and artificial intelligence.

Key visual changes include a redesigned user interface with an optional new home screen style, transparent widgets, and a search bar that provides a sense of depth. The system features an adaptive color scheme that extracts palettes from wallpapers to apply to app icons and widgets. Additionally, the update introduces the Geist typography and redesigned elements for the status bar, Settings, Camera, and Gallery applications.

The public Open Beta phase has commenced for the Nothing Phone (3), with a progressive rollout planned for the rest of the company’s device catalog.
