Nottingham and Coventry markets face trader displacement over council redevelopment

In Coventry, demolition work on the City Centre South regeneration project has caused a decline in trade, prompting about 11 traders (17 stalls) to leave the market. The council has offered substantial rent rebates—50% rent relief for 2026, dropping to 25% in 2027—and a full business‑rates waiver for three years to support remaining traders. Council officials say the redevelopment is essential, but traders stress the need for better communication and assistance to mitigate further closures.
