Nottingham co-living scheme recommended for approval

Nottingham City Council planning officers have recommended approval for Waterway House, a proposed 300-studio co-living development located near Nottingham railway station. Proposed by Wavensmere Homes and Redford Developments, the five-storey building on a 0.25-hectare site in the Canalside Quarter would feature self-contained studios with en-suite bathrooms and kitchenettes. Residents would have access to shared amenities including a gym, padel court, communal kitchen, cinema rooms, and co-working spaces.

The project is part of a broader residential expansion near the city's railway station. In addition to the Waterway House scheme, a 319-bed apartment block by the Cassidy Group has been approved for a site between Arkwright Street and Meadows Way, following the acquisition of £7.2 million in public funding. A third proposal for 252 homes has also been submitted to the council. While local businesses anticipate increased footfall from these developments, some residents have raised concerns regarding potential increases in traffic congestion in the city centre.
