Nottingham Forest draws 2-2 with Vitória de Guimarães in pre‑season friendly

Nottingham Forest and Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães faced each other in a behind‑closed‑doors pre‑season friendly at the Algarve Stadium in Portugal in late July. Both clubs entered the match in strong form – Forest had won its first two friendlies without conceding, while Vitória had recorded four consecutive victories, scoring 13 goals.

The game ended in a 2‑2 draw. Forest saw the return of New Zealand striker Chris Wood, who contributed two assists, and welcomed new signing Xaver Schlager, a midfielder from RB Leipzig. Manager Oliver Glasner, whose contract runs to June 2029, used the fixture to continue implementing his tactical ideas ahead of the 2026‑27 campaign.

Other club news included Vitória’s sale of midfielder Diogo Sousa to Strasbourg for €10 million and Forest’s earlier loss of Elliott Anderson to Manchester City for £116 million. The match was streamed globally via Forest TV, Sport TV in Portugal and other regional platforms.
