Nottingham Forest signs Liam Delap from Chelsea for record £50m
Nottingham Forest has completed a club-record transfer to sign striker Liam Delap from Chelsea on a five-year contract. The deal is reported to be worth £45 million in guaranteed fees, with an additional £5 million in performance-related bonuses, bringing the total package to £50 million.
Delap, 23, becomes Forest’s most expensive signing, surpassing the previous record set by Omari Hutchinson. The move follows a challenging period for the striker at Chelsea, where he scored only three goals in 47 appearances across all competitions. Delap expressed enthusiasm about joining the club and working under manager Oliver Glasner to reach the next stage of his career.
For Chelsea, the sale represents a significant financial gain. Having acquired Delap from Ipswich Town for approximately £30 million last year, the club is set to realize a profit of at least £15 million despite the player's limited impact on the pitch.
