Nottingham Forest dismisses Vitor Pereira, names Oliver Glasner as new coach

Nottingham Forest confirmed that head coach Vítor Pereira left the club after the mutual activation of a break clause in his contract on 30 June. The Portuguese manager, who joined in February, was informed by email just before the deadline and said the decision “came as a complete surprise and without any warning”. The club thanked Pereira and his staff – Filipe Almeida, Luis Miguel, Bruno Moura, Marco Knoop and Pedro Lopes – for securing Premier League survival and reaching the UEFA Europa League semi‑finals.

Oliver Glasner, the Austrian who guided Crystal Palace to an FA Cup triumph in 2024‑25 and a Conference League title the following season, has been linked with the role and is now expected to sign a three‑year contract as Forest’s new head coach. He will also have a significant say in transfer decisions, suggesting a longer‑term appointment after a year that saw five different managers. The appointment follows a period of instability at the City Ground, with the club aiming to build on the recent European run while stabilising domestic performance.
