Nottingham Forest prepares for new season under Oliver Glasner with five Brazilian players

Nottingham Forest begins the 2026/27 campaign with optimism after a turbulent previous season that saw three different managers and a relegation battle. The club has appointed Oliver Glasner, the recent Conference League champion, as head coach. Glasner plans to use a 3‑4‑3 system and has already signed midfielder Xaver Schlager, with a possible €35 million deal for U.S. Diomande pending.

The squad includes five Brazilian players – Jair Cunha, Morato, Murillo, Igor Jesus and John – each facing different prospects. Murillo and Nikola Milenković are expected to start in central defence, while Morato may serve as a fourth‑choice defender. Jair has impressed in limited appearances, and the coaching staff will decide how much game time the younger Brazilians receive under Glasner’s regime.
