Nottingham Forest proposes City Ground capacity increase to 52,500

Nottingham Forest has expanded its long-term redevelopment plans for the City Ground. The proposal has evolved from a single stand replacement and apartment scheme into a comprehensive transformation of three sides of the stadium.

If approved and fully implemented, the stadium capacity is projected to increase from approximately 31,000 to 52,500. The project would involve significant changes to the surrounding area, including potential matchday restrictions in residential zones, new park-and-ride packages, reduced stadium parking, and possible alterations to traffic lanes on Trent Bridge.

The principal stadium applications are currently under consideration by Rushcliffe Borough Council. Earlier iterations of the plan, first unveiled in 2019, focused on replacing the Peter Taylor Stand to increase capacity to 35,000 and included a residential development of approximately 170 apartments. The project has previously faced delays related to land ownership, environmental assessments, and negotiations with Nottingham City Council.
