Nottingham Forest signs Michael Noonan from Shamrock Rovers
Nottingham Forest has confirmed the signing of 18-year-old striker Michael Noonan from Shamrock Rovers. The Irish prospect has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the Premier League club on January 1, 2027.
Noonan, who has scored eight goals this season, will arrive on a free transfer as his current contract is expiring. Shamrock Rovers is expected to receive training compensation in the low six-figure range, despite earlier hopes for a fee closer to €750,000. The player will remain in Dublin to assist Shamrock Rovers in their title challenge for the remainder of the current season.
Forest’s chief football officer, George Syrianos, stated that recruiting high-potential young players is central to the club’s long-term academy vision. Noonan had previously attracted interest from several European clubs, including Celtic, Ajax, and Hoffenheim, but ultimately chose the pathway offered by the English side.
