Nottingham police mishandling of body‑cam footage sparks family outrage

Emma Webber, mother of Barnaby Webber, who was stabbed to death with fellow student Grace O’Malley Kumar by paranoid schizophrenic Valdo Calocane in June 2023, says Nottinghamshire Police betrayed her trust after a special constable, Ilsadin Skenderaj, accessed twelve body‑worn videos of the victims receiving medical aid and being placed in body bags.

Police officials stated Skenderaj was removed from his role following a misconduct hearing, but he resigned before any formal dismissal could occur. The family alleges the force misled them about the extent of the misconduct and failed to seize his devices or compel an interview. Calocane remains under an indefinite hospital order.

The incident has prompted calls for greater accountability and transparency within the force, with the family describing the handling as a “profound betrayal of trust.”
