Nottingham taxi driver delivers passenger to police station over fake cash

A Nottingham taxi driver drove a passenger directly to the Radford Road police station after discovering the individual was attempting to pay with counterfeit £20 notes. The incident occurred around 11:30 pm on Tuesday, October 13, after the passenger repeatedly changed his requested route during the trip.

Following the driver’s actions, police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of using counterfeit currency and possessing an offensive weapon in a private place. A subsequent search of the suspect's home led officers to discover a large knife concealed under a mattress and equipment used for cannabis cultivation.

Neighbourhood Inspector Liz Gaskin praised the driver’s decisive actions, stating that the driver decided the passenger’s journey would end with a night in police custody. The investigation successfully removed a dangerous weapon from circulation.
