Nottingham's Angel Row Receives 24‑Hour Emergency Help Point

A four‑metre‑tall emergency help point has been installed on Angel Row in Nottingham city centre. The column links directly to Nottingham City Council’s CCTV control room, allowing anyone in distress to press a button and speak to operators who can record evidence and alert Nottinghamshire Police.

The installation follows the “Walk In My Shoes” survey run by Nottinghamshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office, which identified Angel Row as the area where women and girls felt the least safe. More than 3,600 respondents highlighted the location, prompting funding approval from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Angela Kandola and Police Superintendent Heather Maelor said the help point provides round‑the‑clock support and an additional tool to detect incidents before they escalate. The device includes a rotating CCTV camera, flashing blue light, intercom, wheelchair‑accessible design and a hearing loop for people with hearing difficulties.
