Nottinghamshire shop worker fights off machete robber with hockey stick

A shop worker at the Crest Mini Market in Bestwood, Nottinghamshire, successfully defended themselves against a masked robber using a hockey stick. CCTV footage captured the incident, which occurred at approximately 9:10 AM on July 4, showing the employee confronting the attacker who was wielding a machete near the till.

During the struggle, which took place across the service counter, the attacker eventually retreated. A security smoke system was activated during the altercation, allowing the assailant to flee the scene with a bottle of vodka. The employee was not injured during the attack.

Nottinghamshire Police are currently investigating the robbery. Detective Thomas Lowe stated that authorities are working to identify the suspect, noting that a distinctive tattoo on the attacker's left hand may assist in identification. The organization Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
