Mauritania hosts forums on heart valve disease and diaspora engagement
Nouakchott is hosting two significant inaugural forums aimed at national development and healthcare improvement.
The first edition of the Nouakchott Forum on Heart Valve Diseases has commenced, organized by the Mauritanian Heart Valve Authority. Presided over by Abdi Salem Ould Cheikh Saadbouh, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, the event brings together doctors, researchers, and cardiology experts. The forum aims to review Mauritania’s progress in cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology, which has helped reduce the need for medical evacuations abroad. A strategic project to extend the National Cardiology Center is also a key focus.
Simultaneously, the first Mauritanian Diaspora Forum has launched at the Mokhtar Ould Daddah Congress Palace under the supervision of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the forum includes workshops on diaspora rights, political participation, and economic contributions. Discussions involve various government departments to explore how citizens living abroad can support national development through tourism, investment, and trade.
