Nový Jičín renovates historic U Anděla building to create new apartments
The city of Nový Jičín has completed the renovation of two new apartments within the historic U Anděla building located on Masaryk Square. The project transformed 200 square meters of long-unused and dilapidated space into two residential units, measuring 96 and 106 square meters respectively.
Originally budgeted at under six million CZK, the total cost exceeded eight million CZK due to necessary repairs to the roof and ventilation systems. The 17th-century heritage-protected building had previously undergone partial reconstruction twenty years ago, but much of the structure had fallen into disrepair, lacking ceilings and proper flooring.
The new apartments, a 2+kk and a 3+kk, feature modern kitchens, gas heating, and utilities. Once the final occupancy certification is complete, the city will offer the units for rent through an envelope bidding process. Rental prices are expected to start at approximately 140 CZK per square meter, resulting in monthly rents of roughly 13,500 CZK for the smaller unit and just under 15,000 CZK for the larger one.
