Nova Andradina police operation kills teenager and two men

A police operation in Nova Andradina, Mato Grosso do Sul, resulted in the deaths of a 17-year-old girl and two men. The Civil Police, through the Special Group for the Repression of Organized Crime (Garras), conducted the raid on Thursday to execute judicial warrants.

Investigators identified the teenager as a suspect in the planning of her father's murder, which occurred on September 29 in Batayporã. Authorities suspect she may have used a false accusation of sexual violence against her father, Gilson Santana dos Santos, to mobilize members of the Comando Vermelho (CV) gang to attack him. Police stated they found no evidence to support the sexual violence claim.

The three individuals killed during the operation—the teenager, Wermerson Costa Anjos (known as Tio Baby), and João Lucas Santos Nunes (known as Juquinha)—were also under investigation for another homicide on October 5. Police reported that the suspects pointed firearms at officers during the encounter, leading to the fatal exchange. The investigation into the suspects' links to organized crime and the specific motivations behind the crimes continues.
