Nova Željezara Zenica enters official bankruptcy proceedings

The Municipal Court in Zenica has officially opened bankruptcy proceedings for Nova Željezara Zenica, effective August 12, 2026. Jasmin Hadžirašidović, who previously served as the temporary bankruptcy administrator, has been appointed as the official bankruptcy administrator.

Creditors are required to file their claims with the Municipal Court in Zenica within 30 days of the decision's publication in the 'Official Gazette of the Federation of BiH'. Claims must include creditor details, the legal basis, the amount owed, and bank account numbers, subject to a court fee of 1% of the claim value (minimum 50 KM, maximum 10,000 KM). Creditors claiming security rights over the company's assets must also notify the administrator within the same 30-day period.

The bankruptcy follows long-term insolvency. As of the end of 2025, Nova Željezara Zenica's total liabilities were approximately 374.4 million KM, with over 317 million KM owed to suppliers. The court has ordered debtors to settle their obligations to the company immediately and mandated that all assets and documentation held by the company or third parties be handed over to the administrator. An examination and reporting hearing is scheduled for December 8, 2026.
