Nova Željezara Zenica implements temporary work reorganization

Nova Željezara Zenica has implemented a temporary reorganization of work from August 11 to August 17, 2026. According to a decision signed by General Director Ahmed Hamzić and Union President Rašid Fetić, employees whose tasks allow for remote work will not report to the workplace. This measure, taken following consultations with the Union, aims to ensure personnel safety and property protection. The company noted that this period will not be counted as annual leave or unpaid absence, and employees will retain their standard labor rights.

Zeničko-dobojski Canton Prime Minister Nezir Pivić has criticized the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) government regarding the situation. Pivić accused FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić and Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry Vedran Lakić of failing to act. He argued that the FBiH government, as a minority co-owner, missed opportunities to exercise its right of first refusal, which he claims led to the company falling into private hands. Pivić stated that the current crisis threatens jobs, steel production, and the broader economy of the Federation.
