Nova Iguaçu implements new debt laws and 2027 budget

The municipality of Nova Iguaçu has introduced several significant administrative and fiscal measures. Under Complementary Law No. 106/2026, the city has established new rules to facilitate the negotiation of municipal debts. This legislation creates a Tax Mediation and Conciliation Chamber and provides specific procedures for low-value debts, aiming to increase revenue recovery while offering taxpayers legal paths to regularize their status.

In a separate fiscal development, the Municipal Chamber approved the first discussion of the 2027 Annual Budget Law (LOA). The proposed budget totals R$ 2.892 billion, with a heavy emphasis on social services: R$ 1.107 billion is allocated to Health and R$ 712 million to Education, together accounting for approximately 62.9% of the total funds.

Additionally, the city is conducting local infrastructure and social awareness initiatives, including paving projects in the Santa Rita neighborhood to improve vehicle access and a municipal program for animal protectors focused on breast cancer awareness for both women and pets.
