Nova Iguaçu approves new public order structure to boost security

The Nova Iguaçu City Council has approved a new administrative structure for the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (SEMOP). The reorganization aims to strengthen public security actions and improve service efficiency for the population.

The new structure includes the creation of a Municipal Intelligence Coordination, a General Corregedoria, and an Ombudsman's office. It also defines command positions for the Municipal Guard. This reorganization will allow the secretariat to provide intelligence advisory services to municipal authorities linked to public security, enhancing planning, prevention, and response capabilities.

According to the approved proposal, the changes will not increase municipal expenses. Funding will be sourced through the reallocation of budget surpluses, and no increase in the total number of administrative positions will occur, as the measure involves the transformation and reallocation of existing roles within the secretariat.
