Nova Iguaçu City Council holds hearing on Águas do Rio service issues

The Nova Iguaçu City Council held a public hearing to address service failures by the utility provider Águas do Rio. The session included representatives from the company, municipal executives, the City Attorney General's Office, and local residents.

Citizens raised several grievances, including billing for properties that reportedly lack water supply, monthly bills reaching as high as R$ 13,000, and failures to provide water trucks within the required five-day window during supply interruptions. Specific areas cited for recurring water shortages include Morro da Cruz in Vila de Cava and Morro do Cruzeiro in the city center.

Other issues discussed involved the installation of water meters in artesian wells, road damage caused by company interventions, and difficulties accessing customer service channels to register complaints.
