Nova Iguaçu expands Jovem Aprendiz program for local youth
The city of Nova Iguaçu has introduced new participants to its Jovem Aprendiz program, a partnership between the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development, Labor and Tourism (SEMDETTUR) and the Center for Integration of School-Enterprise (CIEE).
Recently, 20 new adolescents joined the initiative, including 16-year-old Milena Barbosa de Souza Ferreira, who began working in public service at the National Employment System (SINE). Currently, approximately 30 young people are employed across various municipal administration sectors. The city aims to expand this number to 60 participants by 2027.
Mário Lopes, the secretary of SEMDETTUR, stated that the program serves as an essential entry point into the labor market, allowing teenagers to acquire professional qualifications and experience while contributing to municipal services.
