Nova Iguaçu to launch Sunday leisure space on Via Light

The City of Nova Iguaçu, in partnership with Light, is launching the ‘Arena de Lazer Light’ to transform a section of Via Light into a leisure and community space every Sunday. The initiative will operate from 6:00 to 14:00 in the downtown area between Oscar Soares and Coronel Francisco Soares streets.

To accommodate the activities, the lane heading toward the city center will be closed to vehicle traffic. The program offers a variety of free activities for all ages, including sports, games, culture, and wellness. Specific offerings include running, walking, Pilates, functional training, dance classes, a gamer arena, a skate park, and inflatable recreation for children.

In addition to leisure, the project includes public health and social services. A mobile health unit will provide immunizations, rapid testing for sexually transmitted infections, and blood pressure and glucose monitoring. The program also features animal protection services, such as rabies vaccinations, and support services for women.
